This was going to be a product comparison between drink bottles but I’ll cut to the point, rubber floppy collapsible drink bottles are shit. I’ll bitch about why first and then tell you why any other bottle is better, other than maybe  a glass Coke bottle.

For reference my drink bottle is the Hydrapak Stow 1L.

They claim to stay upright on their own which they kind of do if you’re a jenga world champion. As soon as you try and do anything with it, it’ll fall over

You can’t hold them by the sides when trying to add electrolyte powder or pour anything without the water being squeezed out the top. I don’t know how many times I’ve dropped my precious tang in the dirt because of this.

You can’t drink out of them like a normal person. The best way to describe it is like drinking out of a ziplock bag. Tip it up like a normal water bottle, no, water just flops to the bottom, you have to squeeze it like some little child with a yoghurt squeeze Pak. And then when it’s almost empty you can’t squeeze it any more so you try sucking but that doesn’t work because it’s all closed up so you try blowing air into it and tipping it up again but then you just end up squeezing air into your mouth. Pretty much impossible to use one handed. 

This is specific to my water bottle but the lid isn’t attached to the bottle so that gets dropped in the dirt all the time.

Also they probably don’t like hot water (mine says +60°). I know some people like to fill their  water bottle with hot water and put it in a sock but that’s not going to be an option with a rubber one. 

They’re really hard to fill in a stream, if the water is falling straight into the opening that’s ok, you just have to make sure you’re holding it by the opening or the handle. If you have to dunk it under the water to fill it, it just collapses under the weight of the water. You’d think squeezing it might help but that just squeezes out the little water you managed to get in. You kind of have to drag it around like a net catching the water. 

It’s not clear! Fill it up in a stream and you have no idea what the hell is in it, you’ll can kind of peer in and assess but you’ll never really know. 

Oh but it’s so compact and lightweight! Who cares, it’s only compact when it’s empty, why are you carrying an empty water bottle around? Also the weight difference between my nalgene and this is negligible….. end rant, sorry :/
